Position: Assistant Pastor (or Director) of Worship and Community (New Position)

Status: Full-Time

Redeemer Presbyterian (PCA): Redeemer is a Gospel-Centered, Bible teaching, relationally driven, reformed church located in Raleigh, NC. Redeemer exists to help people come to know and follow Jesus in all areas of life for the glory of God and the good of our neighbors in Raleigh and the world. In addition, Raleigh is also within a couple hour drive to the mountains or to the beach.

Planted in 1997, RPC has been present for much of that growth of our city, transitioning from a small church plant to a solid church of ~550 members. Staff currently includes the Senior Pastor, Associate Pastor of Adult Discipleship, a full time Children’s Ministry Director, part time Administrative Assistants, and we are currently in the process of hiring both a full time Youth Director/Pastor (previous Youth Pastor transitioned to a new calling), and this new position for Redeemer. Why a new position?: We are humbled at God’s working at our church. This has included steady growth over the years, which has now brought us to the place of requiring further staffing to support the needs of the church. Two particular areas in need of support are worship leadership (Redeemer has relied on faithful volunteers in worship since its planting) and shepherding of community life, particularly with young adults, college students, overall pastoral care and community groups.

Our Worship: In Redeemer’s worship service (currently two Sunday morning worship services) we strive to craft a gospel-driven worship service with a mixture of singing, scripture reading and prayer along with preaching, a time of fellowship and the celebration of the sacraments. Our music style is a blend of hymns, contemporized hymns, and contemporary Christian worship songs. We enjoy a diverse group of faithful and skilled lay musicians who play a wide variety of instruments but are growing in our need for consistent oversight and leadership in this area.

Position Summary: The Pastor of Worship and Community will focus on weekly Sunday morning worship and pastoral care. Please note, this position is ideally for someone who is ordained or is ordainable in the PCA. Responsibilities include the following duties….

Job Duties:

Worship (Primary Role)

• Oversee all musical and technical aspects of the weekly Sunday worship services.

• Collaborate with the pastoral team to plan weekly liturgy and select music that supports the preaching and worship flow.

• Recruit, develop, and shepherd a healthy team of musicians and technicians, fostering unity, spiritual growth, and musical excellence.

• Regularly lead mid-week worship rehearsals and ensure preparation for Sunday services.

Expanded Ministry Opportunities (Depending on Skills and Calling)

While the primary focus of this role is worship ministry, Redeemer values team players with broader gifts who can contribute to the life of the church.

Opportunities may include:

• Assisting with Community Groups: welcoming newcomers, helping them connect, supporting group leaders, aiding leader development, and preparing sermon discussion guides.

• Providing pastoral care and engaging in teaching or preaching as gifted and able.

• Supporting community-building efforts among our college and young adult ministries.

• Offering care and presence to the lonely, the hurting, the depressed, and others in need of shepherding.

Miscellaneous Responsibilities

• Participate in communication efforts, presbytery-related work, and other responsibilities as needed to support the ministry of the church.

Personal Profile:

The following characteristics are desired in the candidates personal profile:

• Ordained or Ordainable in the PCA - preferred but not required

• Ministry Experience: Ideally 3-5 years full time ministry experience, but there is flexibility depending on the candidate

• Spiritual Maturity: Loves the LORD and displays a mature, growing, repentant and joyful relationship with Him.

• Shepherds Heart: Able to pastor people in different stages of life and through various joys and trials.

• Musically Gifted: Understands music and worship from various styles, competent instrumentally on guitar and/or piano (ideally both) and is able to lead people in the worship of God.

• Technically Competent: (optional but preferred) Possesses skills and knowledge to oversee the technical areas related to the AV needs of worship.

• Team Oriented: Devoted to collaborating and communicating clearly with staff, leadership, ministry teams and musical teams
