WALKING TOGETHER TOWARDS SHALOM
Finding true freedom and community in the spirit and mission of Christ
October 19 & 20, 2018
Redeemer PCA Church, 11412 Strickland Road, Raleigh 27613
There is a story told about an African pastor who was visiting with an American pastor. The African pastor said, “Western Christianity sees the church like a farmhouse with a big fence around the perimeter. You are either inside the fence, or outside of it. Africans don’t see it that way. When it comes to Christianity, they say, 'Are you walking towards the farmhouse - or away from it?’"
Our guest speaker, Kim Hall, says she loves this story for lots of reasons, but mostly because it deals with our inner posture as Christians. We can be technically “on the farm” doing all the right Christian things, but we can at the same time be walking away from the farmhouse, our faces and attention wholly or partly turned from our true home, nourishment, rest, joy, and purpose. Jesus.
This posture of reorienting ourselves, again and again, to God; to a regular turning to fully face and move toward Jesus; to being with him in spirit and mission (rather than doing for him), is what frees us - emboldens and enlivens us as his disciples - to follow him outside the fence into his world.
We invite all women from Redeemer and other local churches to join us and encourage you to bring friends!
Kim Hall comes to us from Texas, where she is a writer and works at All Saints PCA in Austin ministering to women. She grew up in Zimbabwe and graduated from Wheaton College, IL. One of her earlier jobs in her career was head coach for NC State Volleyball in Raleigh and she also attended Redeemer for a short time. She is married to David and has four children.
