5th/6th Grade Gatherings
The goal is for the Gatherings to be a bridge - from Children's Ministry at Redeemer to Youth Group. We want these students to learn to build friendships, to have fun and play together, and to learn from God's Word together. By the time middle school years come, students begin to identify with their schools and most of their friendships and activities are school-based. We want our students to have friends at Redeemer and to enjoy church-based activities together, and the Gatherings are one opportunity for that to happen.
The Gatherings are held in a family's home on the second Friday of each month of the school year, October through May. The host family will plan an icebreaker game/activity and a "big" game or activity. Other families volunteer to bring snacks and a Youth Group volunteer or staff person will lead a short devotional time. The kids are welcome and encouraged to invite their friends!
All hosts and youth group volunteers have been through a background check and are members or regular attendees of Redeemer. There will be at least 3 adults to supervise at each Gathering.
Wednesday Morning Women’s Bible Study Child Care
During our Women’s Bible Study on Wednesday mornings, there is childcare for babies, a class for toddler and preschoolers, as well as supervision for school-age children (ex. Homeschoolers or children who are tracked out). The toddlers learn basic elements of our faith (ex. “God made us” and “God loves us”) from Matthias Media’s Teaching Little Ones material. The preschoolers learn the children’s catechism through the Kids’ Quest material.
Every summer we look forward to one week of focused time for our children ages 4 through rising 5th graders to learn about God's word and to have fun together during Vacation Bible School! Invite your friends, invite your neighbors, and come! We use Reach Out Adventures curriculum.
