Background on the Pastor Chinh and his family:

Pastor Nguyen Cong Chinh and his wife, Tran Thi Hong, have long been pro-democracy and freedom of religion activists.  Pastor Chinh has continued to evangelize to the people of the Central Highlands.  The Vietnamese government has harrassed and, even, beaten them since 2004.  In 2011, Pastor Chinh was sentenced and imprisoned for 11 years because of his beliefs.  Pastor Chinh has suffered beatings and torture while in prison; and his family was constantly and often violently harrassed.

With the help of US-based Boat People SOS (BPSOS) Pastor Chinh was released early from prison on July 28, 2017, after accepting exile from Vietnam.  You can read more about their story and their meeting with Congressional Members on October 24, 2017 here.
