Saturday Seminar: Parenting When Emotions Are Running High

  • Redeemer Presbyterian Church 11412 Strickland Road Raleigh, NC, 27613 United States (map)

Do conversations ever get emotionally charged in your home?  What do you do? How do you calm emotions so you can get from Defcon 1 (nuclear war is imminent) to Defcon 5 (normal readiness) so you can calmly talk with your child?  How do you lower every one’s emotions so you can can have a grace filled helpful conversation?

Join us as Marilyn Young and our own Anne Larsen help give us both the neuro-science of the brain and practical skills to deescalate emotionally charged situations.  In addition we will also discuss how we, as parents, reflect God to our children in all we do, and how our healthy and unhealthy responses help form their view of God.

Anne Larsen has worked as a counselor since 2002, serving in both private practice and school settings.  She is licensed by the state of North Carolina as a Licensed Professional Counselor.  She works with college students, adults, couples and families.  Her areas of treatment include anxiety, depression, grief, women's issues, children of divorce, spiritual issues, and marital and family therapy.  Anne holds a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Masters in Biblical Studies, both from Reformed Theological Seminary. She is married to David and has two sons.
