Middle School Retreat

Calling all 7th and 8th grade students! Each spring, we take a weekend trip up to a property north of Oxford, NC for a weekend of fun, learning, good food, and fellowship. We will have a three-part lesson on applying the Bible in our daily lives, play a series of games, eat some incredible food, and maybe sleep a little...

In order to sign up, visit this link Middle School Retreat Registration

You will also need to fill out our 2017 Medical release form. That can be done by visiting the bottom of our "Youth" page, under the connect drop down option at the top of your webpage. The release form is all the way at the bottom.

Saturday Seminar: Parenting When Emotions Are Running High

  • Redeemer Presbyterian Church

Do conversations ever get emotionally charged in your home?  What do you do? How do you calm emotions so you can get from Defcon 1 (nuclear war is imminent) to Defcon 5 (normal readiness) so you can calmly talk with your child?  How do you lower every one’s emotions so you can can have a grace filled helpful conversation?

Join us as Marilyn Young and our own Anne Larsen help give us both the neuro-science of the brain and practical skills to deescalate emotionally charged situations.  In addition we will also discuss how we, as parents, reflect God to our children in all we do, and how our healthy and unhealthy responses help form their view of God.

Anne Larsen has worked as a counselor since 2002, serving in both private practice and school settings.  She is licensed by the state of North Carolina as a Licensed Professional Counselor.  She works with college students, adults, couples and families.  Her areas of treatment include anxiety, depression, grief, women's issues, children of divorce, spiritual issues, and marital and family therapy.  Anne holds a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Masters in Biblical Studies, both from Reformed Theological Seminary. She is married to David and has two sons.

Marilyn Young is a licensed clinical social worker providing counseling services to children and adults in Raleigh, NC.  She completed her undergraduate degree and Masters in Social Work at UNC-Chapel Hill and has been in practice since 2002.  Marilyn’s areas of practice interest and expertise include anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, parent-child attachment, ADD/ADHD and other behavioral challenges.  Marilyn and her husband have three children and are active members of Church of the Apostles in Raleigh.

Matthew Smith & Indelible Grace Concert

We hope that you'll join us for a concert by Matthew Smith & Indelible Grace on Sunday, September 18 at 7:00 p.m.

Matthew Smith is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter who writes brand new music to centuries-old hymn texts. He is a founding member of the Indelible Grace community, whose work has drawn acclaim across denominational lines and is used in churches around the world. Born out of a college ministry, the re-imagined hymns have found wide acceptance both among college students and the church at large, joining people who desire to honor tradition with those who want a modern musical approach. His latest album is Hiding Place.

Tickets Prices:

  • In advance: $7.00 per person ($21.00 max per family)
  • At the door: $10.00 per person ($30.00 max per family)

PLEASE NOTE: The family ticket discount is available when purchasing 4 or more tickets for individuals living in the same household.

To purchase tickets, please visit iTickets.

Prior to the concert, at 5:00 p.m., please join Matthew for a one-hour conversation about hymns. During the seminar, Matthew will share his story of how he came to write new music to centuries-old hymn texts and why hymns are an example of emotionally honest worship. Much of the time will be open for a Q&A discussion, interacting with your questions. Recommended for (but not limited to!) pastors, worship leaders, church musicians, and songwriters.

The seminar on hymns is free but you will need to register via iTickets.
